The Canadian International Year of Astronomy Coordinating Committee (IYACC) is a group of professional and amateur astronomers and others interested in astronomy, working together on Canada's celebration of International Year of Astronomy in 2009. Our primary goals are: to offer an engaging astronomy experience to every person in Canada, and to cultivate partnerships that sustain public interest in astronomy. We need your help to plan and execute local events and the national efforts which support them.

We seek energetic people to join our IYA working groups, or to support them, in order to: organize the Canadian program of events; to communicate about the activities to the media and public, and to develop a fun, attractive website which coordinates and publicizes the events, achieving a legacy about Canadian astronomy lasting beyond 2009; to raise funds to support the website, the activities, monitoring the events, coordination of the events, etc.

Opportunities for individuals — students, professors, retirees — to initiate personal involvement in things they enjoy doing that can have widespread impact during 2009 and beyond are limited only by your imagination.
