These activities and events are being led by the RASC’s Light Abatement Committee (http://www.rasc.ca/lpa/) and will focus on educating communities and governments about the importance of protecting dark skies, and will advocate for the creation of Dark Sky preserves throughout Canada – a true legacy project!

The City of Edmonton is sponsoring a photo contest for its residents to help improve lighting in our city and bring back the Milky Way to the Edmonton sky. The light pollution issue will be linked to Land Use and Climate Change conservation categories by EcoVision, the environmental section on the City's website. There will be an exhibit at the world ICLEI conference in June 2009. For more information, click here.
